Post 14: How to persuade people.

The reading for today is "How to persuade people to make a change"

Dan Pink writes that about 40 percent of our time is spent in trying to persuade people to shift how they spend their resources (time, money or attention) ... we are all sales people.  What is an effective way to make those "pitches"?  A future reading will cover those tips, but the core reason for focusing on EMOTIONS rather than on PROVIDING INFORMATION is described by Dan Heath.


























Why not spend three minutes and hear what he says in his FAST COMPANY speech?

It is a fairly routine discussion of "how to read closely" and the article gives tips about what makes "good practice for tests"...  You are encouraged to read these slides and then write to me with your summary of three points that you found helpful in the lecture.  In fact, some of these items will be familiar.  It is an introductory essay and I'm sure you will find some of the information easy...
